I am loving these socks – just need a few more conferences……

Another yarn from the IxChel Bunny Sock Club wound for socks on the go….

I have finished a pair of socks!  These guys have been finished for a little while and they’ve been posted & received.  Disappointingly they are too big for J but she likes them anyway – I’ll actually measure her foot next weekend for a new pair because I don’t think these will give her the right feel for hand knit socks.

The yarn was from Charli’s sock club last year, it’s soft, glossy & was lovely to knit but I started way back in April which makes them a very long knit.  In the past few months I have been working pretty much full-time and going some work slightly outside my scope of practice which made it really challenging but really rewarding.  After the last school holidays life slowed down a tiny bit for a few weeks and I picked up the knitting again.  It’s feels so great.

Specs:

Pattern: Can’t remember the name but Charli designed them!

Yarn – Ixchel Bunny Sock Club

Needles – 2 mm DPN

Gauge – 8 sts/inch (I think)

Timing: Sunday 13 April 2014 – 29 July 2014

Yards –  I had a fair bit left over – maybe enough for booties?

Modifications – Nil.

I realised last week that I had not blogged the Wonderland socks I knit from the first Ixchel Bunny Sock Club I received earlier this year.

The reason I guess is that until today they were not really finished and lying around in the WIP basket. The ends are now darned in and they have been put into the sock draw.

Modifications – none!

I am going to wind the next sock club yarn later today ready to cast on when I have finished the brown Moda Vera Noir.

Today’s the day we put up the Christmas tree – so lots of fun to look forward to this afternoon!

These socks are taking a loooong time.  With only about 35 rows to go I just can’t seem to get there but maybe by next Sunday I’ll be through them.  That’s not to say I am not enjoying them though!  I like the pattern & the yarn is so lovely to knit with but time is limited and it is sock #2 so the excitement ebbs a little.

I have ordered some more yarn from Bendigo Woollen Mills for a little potential gift knitting so maybe no more socks for a few months…

Ugly Socks
They are finished!  Actually, I finished them last week and quickly cast on with my IxChel Bunny Sock Club yarn but we had been throttled so I couldn’t do much on the web.

Specs:

Pattern: Moda Vera Noir Ball Band Sock Pattern

Yarn – Moda Vera Noir Colour way 80251599 Dye Lot 421

Needles – 2.5mm DPN

Gauge – 8 sts/inch (I think)

Timing: 27 July 2013 – 16 August 2013

Yards –  I had a fair bit left over – may even get a pair of socks for Sam out of it.

Modifications – Nil, the pattern was super easy to follow and produced a great pair of functional socks.  I knit the second size but Pete has small feet so I think I’ll knit the smaller one next time.

I don’t find these socks particularly attractive and, even though I thought I had pulled off the yarn to begin the second sock at the same part of the yarn pattern, they still look slightly different.  I have to say that I did get great value at $6 per ball so I really am not complaining too much and they have grown on me.

Ugly Socks

I think I was hoping for something more like these socks – I have some blue in the stash so I hope they turn out well!

Luckily Pete doesn’t care and they have already been put into rotation with his other 2 pair of hand knit socks – hoping to have about 7 pairs for him by next winter – only 4 pairs to go!

Ugly socks

With great excitement I collected the mail today – my IxChel Bunny Fibre Cub parcel has arrived & how fortuitous on my day off!  Pity I have Meals on Wheels and an appointment this afternoon but still, there has been lots of fondling!
IxChel Bunny Fibre & Sock Club July 2013

The fibre is 100gm of GaGa Bunny comprising Angora, Cashmere, BFL & Glitz and the sock yarn is 106gm of Bamboo Bunny Yarn in Angora, Bamboo, Nylon & Silk.
